What to Tell?

Well...here I am sitting at a wireless-enabled cafe/bakery close to my apartment overseas. I've been over here 3 weeks, and have way too much to tell in one post. The first week was hard, and I mean hard, but things have gotten better since. The people over here are extremely friendly. I've been invited to several people's homes, and I've experienced the local hospitality first-hand.

One day I walked up to these guys that were working on a building. They were a construction team of some sort, and I just started talking to them. It was hard to talk to them, but we tried. Then this guy in a van pulled up and handed everybody some sandwiches. Then the head guy said something and gave me his sandwich. I assume he meant for me to eat it, so I did.

Another time I was walking down the road (I do a lot of walking down the road here) and I saw a guy washing his car. I stopped to talk to him, and before I knew it I had joined his family for dinner, and we ended up watching a football (soccer) game.

So, despite the language barrier, the people have shown themselves to be very hospitable. There's much more to tell, but it will have to wait for a while. I hope to have some pictures for the next post

Until then...

Mark Your Calenders...

August 17 is turning out to be quite a day:

1. My own personal 23rd birthday
2. My oldest friend's wedding day
3. Opening Day of the Official 2006 Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas!!

Happy Birthday To Me! (Kind of)

With only two days to go until the big move, my parents decided to celebrate my birthday a little early. It's not actually until August 17, but who's counting? As you've probably guessed, I got the first season dvd of Walker, Texas Ranger!! How cool is that?! I've gotta hand it to the folks, it's a pretty awesome b-day gift. Now I can take a little piece of true America with me.

"In the Eyes of the Ranger, the unsuspecting stranger,
had better know the truth of wrong from right.
'Cause the eyes of the Ranger are upon you, any wrong you do he's gonna see.
When you're in Texas, look behind you, 'cause thats where the Ranger's gonna be."

On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand

On Christ the solid Rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

My hope is built on notheing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus' Name

When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil

His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me in the whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way
He then is all my Hope and Stay

When He shall come with trumpet sound
Oh may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless to stand before the throne

What great words for hard times.
FYI, I'm not going through any right now, but I figure I'll hit some in the next few years...

Not My Friend's House

The picture has nothing to do with the post, but pictures seem to liven the place up a bit.

Anyway, I said goodbye to my oldest friend the other day. I don't mean to be depressing, but it was pretty sad. He's getting married a week or so after I leave, and I had to turn down being his best man because I couldn't be there. I hate, seriously hate, having to miss it, but there's nothing I can do.

Good luck, man. I've said it before, but I'm truly sorry for having to miss your wedding. Where are we gonna be in a few years? You'll probably in Wisconsin or something with 5 kids, and who knows where I'll be =). I hope God works mightily in your life. Numbers 6:24-26
